Infantry Pointman and Songwriter Michael J Martin - July 2017
Infantry Pointman and Songwriter Michael J Martin
This week we will be replaying our program from 9 October 2016 only with more of the music of Michael J Martin.
Our guest this week on Veterans Radio is Michael J. Martin’s daughter, Andy Martin, who will be sharing some stories about her Dad. And, of course, we will be playing many of his songs.
Michael J. Martin was a frequent guest on Veterans Radio and is one of our favorites. He was one of those “tried and true ol’ troubadours”. He lived the songs he wrote and sang. His music has some miles on it. For years, he traveled throughout America, performing at concerts, colleges, clubs, pubs, churches, prisons, military bases, museums, biker bars, hospitals, and honky tonks. Michael J. Martin served 12 months in Vietnam, “in the bush”, mostly as a Pointman, with the 11th Infantry / American Division, class of 1968-69. His citations include: Silver and Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He is gone now but he lives on through his music.
You can now order some of the remastered cds of Michael J. Martin and Tim Holiday by contacting: Andy Martin at [email protected]
How can I get in touch with Michael J Martin’s daughter Andy? His wife only wanted his VA benefits and his remains don’t seem a matter to her. If Andy wants to dispose of them like he’d wanted have her contact me. This isn’t the way our Veterans should be treated.
Hi Tommy,
You reach Andy Martin by using messenger on Facebook.
Mr. Throneberry,
A Belated Thank You!
Richard Campos, here, un-official co-coordinator of the “The Last Patrol – Colorado Division, along with Michael Higgs, designer of “The Last Patrol” logo.
Just wish to Thank You for doing an encore presentation of Michael J. Martin and Tim “Doc” Holiday and the Healing Music they both wrote, sang and perform at various locations throughout the United States along with the numerous “Walks” across the Country.
Even though I have all of their cd’s, and play them constantly, it’s always nice to listen to them from other sources such as Your Radio Program and hope that you will continue to do so in future programs, as like myself, we will never forget them and the Healing they helped many Vietnam, as well as from other conflicts, Veterans with their words and music.
Sincerely,
Richard Campos
