It was Dec 16, 1944.  The Allied front line extended 200 miles along the Belgium border with the 85 mile center of the salient defended by the 12^th Infantry commanded by American General Omar Bradley.  The Germans, with Walter Model as Field Marshall,  launched what would be their last major campaign to break the Allied advancement in Europe, create a “bulge” in the Allied line and capture a water port for supplies.

Kevin Hymel, Author, Historian and General Patton biographer, will outline the triumphs and tragedies of this significant military battle.

Kevin Hymel Bio

Kevin Hymel is an historian for the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He is also a Historian/Tour Guide for Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours and gives World War II tours on D-Day, the Band of Brothers and General George S. Patton’s battlefields. He has also been the Research Director for Sovereign Media which publishes WWII History and WWII History Quarterly Magazines, for which he continues to write articles.

He is a former historian for the U.S. Army’s Combat Studies Institute at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he wrote on the war in Afghanistan. He is the author of Patton’s Photographs and Patton, Legendary World War II Commander. He has appeared on the History Channel, the American Heroes Channel, the Fox News Channel, C-SPAN and Book-TV, speaking about General George S. Patton and military history.

He has worked for more than 20 years for various military and military history magazines and journals, and has worked as a researcher for the National Archives and as an historian for an archaeology company. He holds a Master’s degree in American History from Villanova University.
