Military Moms Support and Agent Orange Legacy
Military Moms; Agent Orange’s Legacy. Join us this week on Veterans Radio with our guests from the Michigan Military Moms organization and some of the participants from a special Agent Orange Town Hall being held Saturday, 9 May 2015, in Northville Michigan sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 528 .
Michigan Military Moms, was founded in July 2002, and has been providing support and encouragement to hundreds of Moms and families of military personnel ever since. The organization is a support group united by pride and dedicated to our sons and daughters, either serving or who have served in the United States military. We share our joys and sorrows with the level of understanding that only those with loved ones who are serving or who have served in the military can comprehend.
This program will help you learn more about Agent Orange and the effects on those exposed individuals including their potential next seven (7) generations. If you were in Vietnam you were exposed to Agent Orange. This is your chance to find what Agent Orange may have done to you and your family.
I served in the Army from 10/18/1972 to 10/18/1975, and I had Basic Combat Training in Company B -1-3 at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. When we went to the ranges, had our bivouac and force marches it was through the parts of the post that were covered with vegetation. I remember it was brown and curled up, which I would learn later working for USDA Soil Conservation Service, was typical of being treated with the herbicide Dioxin. I am on the Agent Orange Register with the VA, but they deny that any constituent of Agent Orange was ever used stateside.
I am a Type 2 Diabetic, with no family history of Diabetes. Could this be due to the exposure I am telling you about? When we had our bivouac we had to set up camp on the dead vegetation, which was wet with snow and had not apparently been previously set foot on – it was knee to waist high and there was no sign of being trampled or having GI tents pitched on it.
Is there any information anyone can give me regarding this issue? I also suffer from muscle spasms and cramping in my hands, back, abdomen, ribs, back and legs, and those predated my diagnosis of Diabetes by 15 years. I used to get cramps in my lower jaw as well. Nothing is being done to determine why this is occurring, and I have told VA doctors about it for almost 15 years and all they seem to do is give me medicines that do nothing to prevent the symptoms.
Please tell me if you know of anyone who can help me with this matter.
